Luke 18:9-17
"WHO ARE YOU?"

Bible Text: Luke 18:9-17

The title of this sermon asks the question “Who are you?”  Who are you in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector?  The Pharisee goes into the temple and says “I thank God I am not like other men…..especially this tax collector”. Then he goes on to list all the good things he does and how lucky God is to have him on His side.

The tax collector just beats his chest and says “God have mercy on me, a sinner.  Who are you in This parable?  We want to say of course "I am not like that judgemental Pharisee!  The Pharisees are the worst!"

Right at that moment we judged the Pharisee and became one ourselves.  It is only when we recognize we are the judgemental Pharisee that we can receive God’s unmerited grace and mercy.  Join us today as we look at this very interesting parable.
