The Gospel of Mark is an action Gospel. It goes from 0-60 from the start. In chapter one Jesus is baptized, gets tempted in the wilderness for forty days, teaches with authority, heals sick, casts out demons, calls people to follow him and they do!
Chapter two Jesus continues to draw criticism from the Pharisees. In chapter three, which is the text for today, we hear of the reaction from those around Him. His family thought He was out of His mind, the Pharisees thought He was possessed, we don’t know what the crowd thought but they were increasing to the point that Jesus had to get into a boat to avoid being crushed.
Questions and opinions about Jesus varied but one thing is for certain, Jesus was causing a major commotion and could not be ignored. Opinions regarding Jesus vary today. Join me as our text invites us to judge for ourselves who this Jesus is!
