Head Elder Report
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
The Bible talks about 3 different types of peace. Peace with God, peace within and peace for others. We experience peace with God through redemption. That redemption automatically positions us for peace with God through Jesus Christ. The peace with God is what leads us to peace within and when we are at peace within we are able to react accordingly to others.
In light of the horrific events in Texas I found myself praying for all of those families affected by one lost soul. It is hard to see an end to all the chaos in this world nowadays. But in those moments I cling to our Savior and ask that He surround all of those hurting and needing comfort. "He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved." Psalm 62:6
We must continue our mission and lead those to our Lord so that they may know Him and His love for all of us.
Looking ahead, I am so honored to be able to attend the LCMS gathering with all of our youth. To see and be a part of such a beautiful experience is such a blessing. The youth have one final fundraiser on June 12th. It will be a yard sale in the upper parking lot from 8-noon. Thank you for the continued support and prayers.
I would also like to thank Sue Porterfield for serving as an Elder these last years. Her dedication and love for our Lord shines bright at ORLC.
As the summer approaches and the nights get longer I challenge everyone to slow down a little bit. Smell the roses, listen to the waves, hear the laughter and see the beauty that God has blessed us with. He is all around us, always. Continue keeping our leaders in your prayers and may we all find peace through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
God's Richest Blessings,
